The Shahdad Family

Welcome to the Shahdad Family website. Explore our family history, lineage, and legacy.

Shahdad

The word "Shahdad" is a Persian word which means "Given by the King". Shahdad is a prominent family that has been living in the beautiful valley of Kashmir for centuries. Our ancestor is believed to have come to Kashmir from central Asia, specifically Bukhara in the present day Uzbekistan.

Historically we have maintained a high degree of culture and respect within the society in Kashmir. Our ancestral house was located in Bul Bul Lanker in the heart of the beautiful city of Srinagar. Primarily we were a business oriented family.

Today our family members have spread all over the world and have established their careers in Engineering, Dentistry, Microbiology and numerous other fields.

What is the purpose of this site

This website has been created to preserve the rich history of our family and to let our future generations know more about who we are and where did we come from. This rich history has been told to us by our elders and unless we document it and preserve it, it will be lost forever. This website is also meant as an inspiration for our family members to bond together as one family, in the way our ancestors lived.
